Friday Night Lights with the Ottawa Cyclones

Friday night, I had the pleasure of attending my very first Ottawa Cyclones football game, and what a game it was!

Over the years, I’ve photographed all kinds of sporting events: horse shows, rodeos, basketball, soccer, track and field, and baseball. Most of the time, I’m there to capture images of a specific player at the request of their family or friends, so my focus tends to stay on that one individual.

This time was different. I didn’t go with a particular player in mind, just a camera, curiosity, and the excitement of trying something new. I had also never photographed a football game under the lights before, and I have to say, it was an incredible, challenging experience.

Friday’s matchup was a playoff game against the Piper Pirates, and it turned out to be a real nail-biter. The energy in the stands was electric, and the game’s outcome was literally decided in the final seconds!

You couldn’t have scripted a more thrilling finish.
